Sweet Itch in Horses
Sweet itch is an extremely irritating condition in horses/ponies, often caused by a reaction to midge bites. During the season midges are around, the horse/pony will rub constantly, starting off making bald patches, which if left unattended will continue to be rubbed until they bleed and get attacked by flies. This is normally in the mane, tail, back and underbelly areas, but can occur anywhere on a horse/pony suffering with sweet itch.
Sweet itch may also be stress related. In these cases it is best not to put the horse/pony through the stress of being shut in a stable. If it is not possible for the horse/pony to live out 24/7, then spending as little time as possible in a stable would help. For the ones that are stressed, why not try our calming cream?
Having problems with Sweet itch?
Unlike many other remedies that are oil based, our sweet itch cream can be used safely in direct sunlight or on broken skin and will aid healing. No need to wear gloves when applying. If used regularly we have found no need for the expense of sweet itch rugs
Available in 250ml (approx 2 weeks) or 500ml (approx 1 month) jars (packaging may vary).
Use liberally once a day, preferably early morning or late afternoon. In severe cases use cream twice a day, morning and afternoon. Daily food additive sachets.
Cream for external use on horses only. Sachets for adding to one feed each day.
